INTRODUCTION

This publication outlines the general principles to be adopted when carrying out disposal of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).

It is based on experience gained in many theatres of operation over many years.

It is not, and cannot be, a series of hard and fast rules since such rules cannot exist in the IED disposal world. It is produced as an informative guide providing a list of fundamental points and principles based on very wide experience.
