scope:
The standard designates a method for the determination of the number of fluorescent microorganisms in water. The count is given as DEFT-count. The greatest advangage of the DEFT method is its speed since the result can be achieved already half an hour after starting the method, while traditional cultivation requires an incubation period of 2 to 3 days.
