MODUK - DEF STAN 93-43

Ethylene Propylene, Rubber Compounds, Type QX

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 January 1992
Status: inactive
Page Count: 12
scope:

This Defence Standard specifies the requirements for four ethylene propylene rubber compounds designated EP OX followed by a number equal to the nominal hardness of the vulcanizate as given in Table A. Black or white versions of each quality are specified. The compounds are suitable for the production of mouldings and fabricated items such as sealing rings, gaskets, sheet and items cut from sheet or tube.

The designation "Type OX" indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent TN14 7BP.

Attention is drawn to Defence Standard 13-102 Testing of Materials which are Required to be Compatible with Explosives.

The vulcanizates are not resistant to petroleum fuels, mineral oils, or greases.
