scope:
This standard covers the minimum requirements for monitoring machinery shaft vibration, shaft axial position, and bearing temperatures. It outlines a standardized system for monitoring these items and covers requirements for hardware (sensor and instruments), installation, calibration, and arrangement. This standard does not apply to accelerometer-based vibration monitoring systems, which are covered by API Standard 678.
