This publication gives a general introduction to current activities in health informatics. Health informatics is currently one of the most profiled areas in healthcare as of today and a lot of key players are currently or will in the future be in the middle of massive IT investments. A significant building block in securing these investments is by at an early stage to incorporate standards. This publication gives an introduction to international and national standardisation initiatives in the area and gives the opportunity to get a general coherent view over these initiatives.
