scope:

REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE

This Directive:

Reissues and updates reference (a) to consolidate DoD positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) policy, procedures, and responsibilities according to references (b), (c), and (d).

Implements and cancels references (e).

Designates the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration (ASD(NI2)) as the OSD Principal Staff Assistant for overseeing PNT policy and coordinating with all external organizations.

Establishes the PNT Executive Committee (formerly the POS/NAV Executive Committee) as the primary advisory body to the ASD(N12) on all PNT matters.

Assigns responsibilities for preparing PNT policy.

Assigns responsibilities for the Department of Defense to participate in the Interagency GPS Executive Board (IGEB) as reference (b) requires.

APPLICABILITY. This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Department, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred collectively to as "the DoD Components").
