This clause of part 1 is applicable except as follows:
Replacement:
This international Standard IEC 1058-2-1 applies to cord switches for appliances actuated by hand, by foot or by other human activity for use in, on or with appliances and other equipment for household and similar purposes, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V and a rated current not exceeding 16 A.
Replacement:
This standard applies to switches intended to be connected to a cord.
NOTES
1 For switches used in tropical climates, additional requirements may be necessary.
2 Attention is drawn to the fact that the standards for appliances and equipment may contain additional or alternative requirements for switches.
3 Throughout this standard the word appliance means appliance or equipment.
4 Part 1 is applicable when testing cord switches. When other types of cord switches, e.g. electronic cord switches are tested, this part 2-1 is applicable together with the relevant part 2.
5 Throughout this standard the word "switch" means "cord switch" unless otherwise stated.
This subclause does not apply.
