1 SCOPE. These Ground Rules are intended to establish the basic rules for the selection and specification of fasteners and other attaching parts, primarily in automotive applications. They represent the efforts of the divisions, staffs, and the GM Fastener Coordination Committee assigned the responsibility for unification of automotive fastener usage. They are approved by the Chief Engineers of the car and truck divisions for application to all GM motor vehicle designs.
