The standard specifies the test methods to be used for testing p olymeric insulating and sheathing materials of electric cables f or power distribution and telecommunications including cables us ed on ships. - This section 1 of part 1 gives the methods for me asuring the thicknesses and overall dimensions and for determini ng the mechanical properties, which apply to most common types o f insulating and sheathing compounds (elastomeric, PVC, PE, PP e tc.)
