scope:
This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for a synthetic latex containing a terpolymer of acrylonitrile butadiene and styrene manufactured by emulsion polymerization. It is intended for use as a binder in pulp moulding processes.
The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Head of Energetic Materials and Terminal Effects Department, Defence Research Agency, Fort Halstead, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN14 7BP.
Attention is drawn to Def Stan 13-102, Testing of Materials which are Required to be Compatible with Explosives.
