The floor coverings designated in this specification are intended for use in aircraft of all the services. The coverings are durable, easily maintained, impervious to most hydrocarbon and aromatic fluids, and have good acoustical qualities.

Type I covering is intended for use as an overlay for resilient materials for floor covering, but where requirements exist, this covering can be used singly for floor covering, wainscoting, panel covers, and other applications.

Type II and III coverings are intended for use where durable, safe and resilient coverings are required. These types can be used with either smooth or embossed overlays conforming to type I, class 1 or 2. Class 1 overlay is for use where maximum wear conditions exist. Class 2 overlay is for use where minimum wear conditions exist, ie; under seats, storage areas etc. Installation of either type or class can be accomplished quickly and efficiently using minimum skills.
