1.0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 The API proposed TSA two step integral tubing connection for 2-7/8″ OD--6.50 ppf (.217″ wall) L-80 tubing was tested in accordance with API Recommended Practice 5C5, First Edition, January 1990, Class III. The product performed without leakage or failure to the physical limits of the pipe.

1.2 The tests were performed on two sample sets as follows:

Specimen machining and testing was monitored by the API work group.

1.3 All requirements of API RP 5C5 Class III were evaluated with none omitted or any deviations. Class III requires 12 samples and all 12 were tested by Stress Engineering Services.

1.4 CONNECTION DESCRIPTION-

b. Front 14° seal = Metal

c. Integral type connection

d. No resilient seal

e. No thread interference (clearance in both thread steps)

f. Antigalling surface treatment--Pins and Boxes = Glass bead blast and air dry spray moly coat

g. Thread compound = API High Pressure Modified, Shell 72732
