PURPOSE
This Manual:
Implements DoD Directive 8570.1 (Reference (a)).
Provides guidance for the identification and categorization of positions and certification of personnel conducting Information Assurance (IA) functions within the DoD workforce supporting the DoD Global Information Grid (GIG) per DoD Instruciotn 8500.2 (Reference (b)). The DoD IA Workforce includes but is not limited to all individuals performing specialized IA functions including system architecture and engineering, computer network defense, certification and accreditation, and vulnerability assessment will be published as changes to this Manual.
Establishes IA workforce oversight and management reporting requirements to support Reference (a).
No requirements of this Manual are intended to be inconsistent with applicable law.
