MODUK - DEF STAN 80-47

Adhesive, Shellac, Special, Type QX X

inactive
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 16 February 1976
Status: inactive
Page Count: 6
scope:

This Standard relates to a shellac adhesive suitable for use in certain fuze applications. It differs from adhesive shellac to DE2 STAN 80-46/1 in that the naturally occuring shellac waxes are not removed and a small proportion of turpentine is added, dipping . It may be applied by brushing or by dipping.

The designation Type QX indicates that the material is of a quality suitable for applications where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, its compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should therefore seek advice from the Director, Explosives Research and Development Establishment on particular applications.
