It is important that a systematic programme of evaluation be carried out on any major item of clothing as an integral part of the development or acquisition process. This programme should involve as many of the four stages of evaluation that are described in the following chapters as practable. These stages should precede, and are described in the following chapters as practicable. These stages should precede, and are distinct from, troop trial procedures which are the subject of C2-002 STANAG 2138.

Purpose

The purpose of this publication is to prevent scientific principles and test procedures which are used in the evaluation of the biophysical and technological properties and physiological effects of functional clothing and personal equipment systems (defined in Annex A).
