scope:
This specification covers the requirements for electrical output-differential pressure transducer equipment for Naval ships, but does not include the readout or display.
Designations shall be given for the following as specified (see 6.2.1) and listed in the format below: Beneficial comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to: Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, SEA 55Z3, Department of the Navy, Washington, DC 20362-5101 by using the self-addressed Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.
Transducers shall be designated by the three-letter symbol as follows:
PDT - Pressure, differential, transducer.
The sensing technique shall be designated by the corresponding letter symbols and are limited to the following:
D - Diaphragm. B - Bellows. T - Straight tube.
The transduction principles shall be designated by the corresponding symbols and are limited to the following:
SG - Strain gauge. VR - Variable reluctance. DT - Differential transformer. CP - Capacitance
The fluid pressure to be measured shall be indicated as follows:
ST - Steam. OS - 0il. SW - Seawater. FG - Flue gas and ammonia. OX - Oxygen. GW - Other gases, fresh water and condensate.
The full scale differential pressure range in pounds per square inch (lb/in2) differential, or inches of water column differential shall be designated by the numerical value of the upper range limit (see 3.4.3).
The units shall be designated by the corresponding letter symbols and are limited to the following:
PSID - Pounds per square inch, differential. WCD - Inches of water column, differential.
The pressure rating shall be designated by its numerical value and is limited to the following as specified (see 6.2.1):
Pressure rating (lb/in2) 150 600 1500 3000 6000
Wiring of the power supply shall be one of the following (see 3.4.4):
2 - Two-wire system (direct current (dc) supply). 4 - Four-wire system (alternating current (ac) supply).
intended Use:
Transducers are intended to provide control input and monitoring of differential pressures for shipboard engineering plants.
