INTRODUCTION

This chapter defines the general requirements for Topic 1 information on manually-operated electrical engineering test equipment (EETE) in the following categories:

General-purpose electrical engineering test equipment (GPEETE). EETE designed for use on more than one main equipment, notwithstanding that it may be introduced initially for only one main equipment.

Special-to-type electrical engineering test equipment (STTEETE). EETE designed specifically for use on one main equipment only.

Information on STTEETE may be either the subject of a separate publication or included in the main equipment publication. Due consideration should always be given to the possible future conversion to GPEETE. Information GPEETE used in a special system application shall be the subject of a separate publication, any special-to-system connectors being listed in the main equipment publication only.

Whenever possible the required information shall be presented as a multi-topic publication comprising Topic 1 material with separator leaves (or marker cards if warranted) for Topics 2 and 3. Topics other than these are not required for EETE publications.
