PURPOSE

This directive establishes the requirements for management of solid wastes, including hazardous wastes and recyclable materials, at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). This directive outlines the responsibilities and procedures for managing wastes at GSFC.

APPLICABILITY

This directive applies to all GSFC personnel, facilities, and activities, including all permanent and temporary activities. It also applies to all GSFC tenant organizations, contractors, grantees, clubs and other persons operating under the auspices of GSFC or on GSFC property as required by law and as directed by contracts, grants, and other agreements.

Managers of GSFC locations remote from Greenbelt and Wallops shall ensure that an adequate waste management system is established, documented, and implemented to achieve compliance with this directive, regulatory, and Agency requirements as appropriate to the location.
