The recommendation fixes four quality grades of welds. The q uality grades cover the content of geometrical errors in the welds and give mainly an expression of the workmanlike qual ity. It is for use by manual and machine arc welding of item s of unalloyed and alloyed steel. It can be used for as well butt welds as fillet welds.
