This INTERIM Defence Standard specifies requirements for preformed sealing strip, supplied in reels. The material is used for sealing joints held in compression, to produce a watertight and durable, but when required, breakable seal. It is suitable for joining machined and unmachined metal surfaces, for sealing glass into metal frames and for bedding wooden grounds to painted or unpainted mild steel. It is also suitable for sealing smooth face and cloth textured surfaces of fibre-reinforced laminates to metal surfaces.
