This commercial item description covers three types of mineral spirits (volatile petroleum spirits) for use as solvents, cleaners, or thinners with coatings such as paints, primers, natural or synthetic enamels, and their vehicle components. They are not intended for use where high solvency power is required. All types are considered non-photochemically reactive as defined by the South Coast Air Quality Management District Rule 102. Type I thinner is a conventional mineral spirits, Type II is a high flash point thinner used when slower evaporation is required, and Type III is a thinner with relatively low odor.
