Purpose

The purpose of this test is to ensure that transients of specified characteristics injected on to the power supply and interconnecting cables of EUT will not cause damage, degradation of performance or malfunction. The transients shall be injected in the form of damped sinusoids, resonant at the frequencies at which susceptibility of the EUT is most likely to occur. Two types of transient are used, Type 1 (2 - 30 MHz) representing transients produced by switching, eg (contactors) and Type 2 (100 kHz) representing transients simulating voltage spikes which the EUT may experience during group switching of equipment's.
