scope:
This instruction is applicable to all software intensive systems within the Naval Air. Systems Command (NAVAIR) and the naval aviation Program Executive Offices (PEOs). Software intensive systems are defined as any system where a significant portion or component of the functionality is implemented in software or where software presents the primary technical or programmatic challenge to the system developer. For purposes of this instruction, a software intensive system is defined as any project that develops more than 10,000 Source Lines of Code (SLOC).
Purpose. To establish a basic set of software metrics for managing performance (financial, customer value, and quality) in acquiring, developing, and maintaining software intensive systems.
