This standard is primarily concerned with life safety, not with protection of property.
This standard covers the selection, application, installation, location, testing, and maintenance of carbon monoxide warning equipment within dwelling units that contain fuelburning appliances or fireplaces, or have attached garages.
This standard contains requirements for the selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment that detects concentrations of carbon monoxide that could pose a risk to the health of most occupants in dwelling units.
