Applicability

Ground-supported post-tensioned foundations addressed by this document are not specifically excluded from the requirements of the ACI Building Code3 (ACI 318-02, the current ACI code in effect at the time of this publication); however they are specifically excluded from ACI 318-05, with reference to this document (see ACI 318-05 Commentary Section R1.1.6). Residential post-tensioned ground-supported foundations generally conform to the intent of the plain concrete category of structural concrete specified in Chapter 22 of ACI 318-02 (See PTI Technical Update "Minimum Tendon Cover and Slab Thickness for Post- Tensioned Slabs-on-Ground", 1999)89.
