PURPOSE

The Schedule sets out the steels used for Defence production. Part I summarises the main characteristics of wrought steels and provides a commentary intended to indicate the typical applications of the various steels. A separate document, DG-6/Part II, provides information on the weldability of the steels. Another document, DG-6/Part III, gives information in respect of steel castings used for Defence production.

The Schedule is not intended to be a substitute for looking at the full details of the latest issue of the relevent specifications; it is not a substitute for expert advice; and it is not in any way a warrant for substituting another steel or specification for the one stipulated by the designer.
