This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense.
The requirements for acquiring the product described herein shall consist of this specification sheet and the issue of MIL-DTL-3628 listed in that issue of the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DoDISS) specified in the solicitation.

NOTES:
1. The term (REF) refers to the measurements taken from the Government furnished hub or die.
2. Piercing shall be as indicated.
3. The attaching device shall be prong and clutch type. The prongs for Dash Nos. -1, -2, -5, -6, -9, -10 shall be located on the horizontal center line, equidistant from each end and the distance apart as indicated below. The prongs for Dash No. -3, -4, -7, -8, -11 and -12 shall be located on the vertical center line, equidistant from each end and the distance apart as indicated below.

4.Army items for Dash No. -1 through -8 may be nickel or rhodium plated with a mirror-like polished finish which shall match TIOR Metal Finish Chip Number 16 for commercial sale only. For nickel or rhodium plated items, the silver plating requirement shall not apply.
5. The dull, flat, black enamel for Dash No. -9 through -12 shall match FED-STD 595 Chip No. 37038.
