This instruction applies to the design, development, acquisition, manufacture, maintenance, and installation of ALRE CAI/CSI for all U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard shipboard and shore-based ALRE Systems.

Purpose.

To establish policy and procedures and assign responsibilities for the life-cycle management of Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) items critical to Naval Aviation Safety, including the overhaul and installation of ALRE Critical Safety Items (CSIs), and other ALRE Critical Application Items (CAIs), components and assemblies.
