scope:
This Defence Standard specifies winterization requirements for vehicles which are intended for use in theatres of operation with low ambient temperatures. It gives the protection requirements which shall be provided to enable reliable starting and operation of the vehicle and the safety of its occupants. Equipment prepared in accordance with this Standard shall be capable of being operated and maintained in climates down to -46°C (Category C2 - Intense Cold; as detailed in Def Stan 00-35), where conditions of ice and snow, combined with adverse windchill are inhibiting factors. Useful guidance is also incorporated in the annexes to this Defence Standard
