SCOPE AND FIELD OF APPLICATION

This International Standard defines terms, in English and French, relating to magnetic compasses and binnacles for sea navigation.

NOTE - In addition to terms used in two of the official ISO languages (English and French), this International Standard gives, in an annex, the equivalent terms in eight other languages; these have been included at the request of ISO Technical Committee TC 8, and are published under the responsibility of the eight relevant ISO member bodies. However, only the terms given in the two official languages can be considered as ISO terms.
