MODUK - DEF STAN 93-44
Natural and Synthetic Isoprene Rubber Compounds
| Organization: | MODUK |
| Publication Date: | 1 April 1986 |
| Status: | inactive |
| Page Count: | 11 |
scope:
This Standard relates to those isoprene (natural or synthetic) rubber mixes designated IR MT followed by a number equal to the nominal hardness of the vulcanizate as given in the table (clause 7).
The mixes are suitable for the production of fabricated parts, such as sealing rings, gaskets, moulded sheet and items cut or punched from sheet. The designation 'MT' indicates that the materials are of a quality suitable for certain applications where it is necessary to minimize the possibility of tarnishing or corrosion of metallic components, particularly silver, copper, and copper based alloys with which the material may be in contact or close proximity.
The materials may also find application in circumstances where an isoprene rubber having enhanced heat resistance is required.
The mixes when vulcanized do not necessarily have good electrical insulating properties.
