scope:
This standard deals with the selection and installation of pumps supplying water for private fire protection. Items considered include water supplies, suction, discharge, and auxiliary equipment; power supplies, electric drive and control; and internal combustion engine drive and control; steam turbine drive and control; and acceptance tests and operation. This standard does not cover system water supply capacity and pressure requirements, nor requirements for periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire pump systems.
