Organization: NPFC
Publication Date: 14 March 1977
Status: active
Page Count: 58
scope:

This specification covers the requirements for one type of roll and pitch displacement gyroscope, one type of baseplate assembly designated MD-1 Gyro Replacement Baseplate Assembly, and one type of baseplate assembly designated PB-60 Autopilot Gyro Replacement Baseplate Assembly. When the roll and pitch displacement gyroscope is mated with the MD-1 Gyro Replacement Baseplate, it shall be designated a Type MD-1 (Replacement) Gyroscope. When the roll and pitch displacement gyroscope is mated with the PB-60 Autopilot Gyro Replacement Baseplate, it shall be designated a type PB-60 (Replacement) Gyroscope. Beneficial Comments (recommendations, additions, deletions) and any pertinent data which may be of use in improving this document should be addressed to: (AFLC CASO/LODS, Federal Center, Battle Creek MI 49016 by using the self-addressed Standardization Document Improvement Proposal (DD Form 1426) appearing at the end of this document or by letter.

The Gyroscope shall also include internally the capability to perform the rate switching function integrally and simultaneously while performing the vertical displacement output function. This additional function shall be implementable through insertion of a contractor furnished short extension cable, connected between the gyroscope and the aircraft's gyro connector. When this extension is installed, it shall be possible to disconnect an aircraft's MC-1 rate switching gyro and still include rate switching function, in addition to vertical displacement gyro output functions. This method of connection flexibility is required to maintain gyroscope interchangeability with those aircraft equipped with MD-1 vertical gyro and MC-1 rate switching gyro. It is in addition to the interchangeability on aircraft equipped with PB-60 autopilot vertical displacement gyroscopes (Bendix Part Number 14161).

intended Use:

The gyroscope covered by this specification is intended to describe performance requirements for a roll and pitch gyroscope.
