It is intended that the equipment required under this specification be commercial, modified only where necessary to comply with environmental conditions of shipboard application and standardization as specified herein. The requirements for design, construction, and test represent minimum requirements for satisfactory shipboard use. This specification is established to permit the procurement of the components separately or assembled for any refrigeration application within the limitations of the individual parts. Where a component is procured all applicable requirements and applicable examination and tests apply.
