This specification covers the requirements for headset-microphone, headset-electrical, and headset-nonelectrical with single band headband. These items are used in high ambient noise level applications. The headset-microphone has as component parts, two H-143/AIC (19 ohm) earphone elements and one M-101/AIC dynamic noise canceling microphone element mounted in a noise protective shell. The headset-electrical is without microphone and the headset-nonelectrical is for hearing protection only. The term "product(s)" shall be used interchangeably for headset-microphone, headset-electrical, and headset-nonelectrical and shall be used when referring to any of the articles covered in this specification.

The products specified herein (see 3.1) shall be identified by military part numbers which shall consist of the basic specification number, slash number of the specification sheet, and a sequentially assigned number as shown in the following example:
