scope:

This standard covers the minimum requirements for the design, materials, fabrication, inspection, testing, preparation for shipment, and erection of fired heaters for general refinery service.

A fired heater shall be of the type in which heat liberated by the combustion of fuel(s) is transferred to fluids(s) contained in tubular coils within an internally insulated enclosure.

NOTE: A bullet(•) at the beginning of the paragraph indicates that a decision by the purchaser is required. These desicions should be indicated on the data sheets (see Appendix A) when provisions are made thereon; otherwise they should be stated in the quotation request or in the order. Decisions should be indicated on the check list (see Appendix B).
