scope:
This specification covers Radar Set AN/VPS-2, hereafter referred to as the radar. The radar is used in the fire control system (FCS) for the 20-millimeter Antiaircraft (20-mm AA) Artillery Gun, M163A1 (self-propelled) and M167A1 (towed), associated with the Forward Area Air Defense System (FAADS) (see 6.1).
intended Use:
to be used to acquire and track moving aircraft targets and supply range and range rate information to the fire control system for gun-lead angle computation.
