scope:
1. Scope
1.1 This test method covers the evaluation and reporting of the particle contaminant adding characteristics of filters in the particle diameter range of 5 µm and larger. Loose contaminants, as well as the detectable particulate components shed by the filter media, are flushed from the filter and measured. The fraction of particles attributed to media migration is determined by optical microscopy. This test method is applicable to either filter cartridges or flat media.
1.2 This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. For specific safety precautions, see Section 7.
