This specification covers compressible vulcanized fibre jointing material from which washers and gaskets can be cut or stamped.

The material is suitable for use in conract with oils. greases, petroleum fuels and many organic liquids. It is not recommended for use under conditions where it will be required to wiihstand temperatures in excess of 100°C for prolonged periods. Although not unaffected by water, the use of the material in certain applications involving contact with water may be found to be satisfactory.

The material is not suitable for use as electrical insulation.

The material becomes less flexible if kept for some time in a warm dry store, but it will regain its normal properties if removed and kept for a short period in ordinaq atmospheric conditions.

The material is normally supplied in sheets of maximum size approximately 6ft x 4ft.
