This specification covers the general requirements for established reliability, mica dielectric, fixed capacitors. Capacitors covered by this specification have a failure rate level ranging from 2.0 percent per 1,000 hours to 0.0001 percent per 1,000 hours. The failure rate level is established at a 90 percent confidence level. The failure rate level, identified by the applicable symbol specified in table V, is referred to operational life at full rated voltage at 125° C, as applicable. An acceleration factor of 25:1 has been used to relate life test data obtained at 150 percent of rated voltage at rated temperature to rated voltage at rated temperature.

The capacitors covered by this specification are intended for the in equipment where a known order of reliability is required.
