PURPOSE

Aircraft, support equipment and personnel on the flight line are involved in numerous actions and interactions in which electrical hazards may arise either singly or concurrently.

This publication considers:

a. Electrical hazards to aircraft, support equipment and personnel which are encountered on the flight line.

b. Additional hazards which are associated with electrical hazards.

c. Situations in which electrical hazards and additional hazards are encountered.

d. Protection from electrical hazards and additional hazards, particularly electrical safety connections (ESC) for bonding, earthing and grounding.

Although this publication is advisory in nature, the information contained in it is based on experience and sound principles. As all local conditions and situations cannot be anticipated, the procedures given may be adjusted as necessary. Similarly, the parameters given are typical values and may be adjusted as necessary to comply with national codes or with specifications on parts and materiel.
