Provisional Standard Practice for Sampling Plans and Tables for Inspection by Attributes
|Publication Date:||20 July 1995|
1.1 Purpose--This practice establishes lot or batch sampling plans and procedures for inspection by attributes. The words "accept," "acceptance," "acceptable," etc. refer only to the contractor's use of the sampling plans contained in this practice. Determination of acceptability by the purchaser shall be as described in contractual documents. The sampling plans described in this practice are applicable to acceptable quality levels (AQLs) of 0.01 % or higher and are therefore not suitable for applications in which quality levels in the defective parts per million (ppm) range can be realized.
1.2.1 These plans are intended primarily to be used for a continuing series of lots or batches. The plans may also be used for the inspection of isolated lots or batches; however, in this latter case, the user is cautioned to consult the operating characteristic curves to find a plan that will yield the desired protection (see 5.11).
NOTE 1--There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard.
NOTE 2--This practice is identical to MIL-STD-105E.
1.3 Provisional standards achieve limited consensus through approval of sponsoring subcommittee.
1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
