scope:
This Quality Technical Requirement (QTR) describes the procedure to be observed when ammunition manufactured under an MOD contract or order in the UK is to be moved or stored when under a restriction governing its use. This procedure is known as the 'Red Card Procedure'. This QTR is only mandatory when invoked in the contract or order. Any relaxation must be authorised in writing by or through the MOD(PE) Quality Assurance Representative (QAR).
The procedure described is not suitable for MOD contracts placed overseas, but is to be used for contracts placed in the UK through MOD by overseas customers.
This QTR also applies to explosive items which, while ultimately forming part of a nuclear weapon, do not in themselves incorporate nuclear material.
