This Quality Technical Requirement (QTR) sets out the contractual requirements for the colour code identification of those metallic materials which are intended for aerospace application and are supplied direct to RAF Maintenance Units or Royal Naval Stores depots.

Although intended primarily for direct Government contracts for metallic materials the scheme is also recommended for use as a secondary means of identification by Contractors at their own works.

Overall marking by a suitable printing process with the specification and condition is a pre-ferred alternative to colour coding.
