This specification covers one type of antiaircraft weapon system which consists of an electrically powered six barrel 20 millimeter (mm) automatic gun with linked ammunition and feed system, radar range and lead computing sight, mounted in a towed two wheel vehicle. The M167, 20mm Towed Antiaircraft Artillery Gun is hereafter referred to as the weapon system.

The M167 Towed Gun, 20mm, Antiaircraft Artillery is intended for, but not limited to close range antiaircraft cover or strafing operation.
