This Standard covers rigind polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe and fittings intended for use in pressure applications such as water mains, water service piping, and process piping. Included are moulded, solvent-cemented, or threaded Schedule 40 and 80 fittings, and fittings that have been fabricated for use with any joining method.

Note: If PVC pipe and fittings are to be used in other than water applications, the manufacturer should be consulated.

This Standard includes requirements for materials, quality of work, dimensions, solvent cement, and methods of marking for pipe and fittings. In addition, there are requirements for hydrostatic sustained pressure, impact, and extrusion quality for pipe.
