scope:
This specification relates to expanded low density polyethylene sheet and mouldings for use as resilient cushioning material for packaging purposes. It is non-silver staining and resistant to oil and gasoline. The material may be used within the temperature range -20°C to +70°C.
The designation 'Type QX' indicates that the material is suitable for certain applications -here a high degree of compatibility with explosives is a requirement. However, compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established, and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Director, Explosives Research and Development Establishment, Waltham Abbey.
Two types of material having different load bearing characteristics are covered by this specification.
Type A - Maximum static stress 10 kPa
Type B - Maximum static stress 7 kPa
Type A material is crosslinked and can be thermoformed over,a wide temperature range, and has additional thermal stability.
