Purpose
This specification provides a standard for the manufacture, performance, reliability, inspection, and procurement of a single head composite filament tape laying machine having two, three, and four axes of Numerically Controlled motion. This standard lists minimum requirements and is not intended to limit design advances.
Classification
These machines shall be of the following types, sizes, and classes.
Type
I. Single vertical head with gantry type construction.
II. Single vertical head with traveling table.
Size
A - Small
B - medium
C - Large
Class
I. Tape application head shall be used for flat lay only and may have 2 axes (X and Y) or 3 axes (X, Y, and C) with rotary shear (D) axis numerically controlled motions.
II. Tape application head shall be contour following and may have 3 axes (X, Y, and C) or 4 axes (X, Y, Z, and C) with rotary shear (D) axis numerically controlled motions.
intended Use:
The machines described in this specification are intended for use in the aerospace manufacturing industry to provide the capability of automatically applying composite filament tapes, such as... View More
