Introduction
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEE Std 141-1976, Electric Power Systems for Industrial Plants, commonly called the IEEE Red Book, is published as a recommended practice by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,l a nonprofit, transnational professional society divided into 31 groups and societies covering the various sectors of electrical engineering. One of these is the Industry Applications Sbciety, comprising 25 technical committees involved in the application of electric systems to industry. Of these, the Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Committee is concerned with electric systems for industrial plants and commercial buildings. As sponsor for IEEE Std 141, it has assigned technical responsibility to its Industrial Plants ,Power Systems Subcommittee. Approval as an IEEE standard is conferred by the BEE Standards Board.
The IEEE Standards Board requires that all IEEE standards be updated within five years of the date of publication. Notification of errors, suggestions for improvement, and offers of assistance in making this review of IEEE Std 141 are welcome and should be submitted to the IEEE Standards Office, 345 East 47 Street, New York, NY 10017.
