INTRODUCTION
This Defence List relates to Joint Services requirements of air compressor plant for servicing and workshop purposes. Each plant incorporates the air compressor and its prime mover. Air compressors for construction purposes are included in Defence Specification DEF-1017.
Data given is intended as a guide and represents the minimum standard which will be accepted. Any questions regarding the sheets enclosed should be addressed to the Authority named in the tender or contract.
Service operating and storage conditions (low/high temperature and altitude) and requirements for electrical supply (electric motor driven machines only), fuel, inspection, testing, finish, marking and packaging (preservation, identification and packing) will be stated in the tender or contract.
The air compressor plant and associated equipment shall operate satisfactorily on the Service lubricants appropriate to the specified operating conditions (see paragraph 3). Details of these lubricants will be given in the tender or contract.
Interchangeability. All similar parts shall be fully interchangeable between all machines from any one contract.
The air compressor plant and associated equipment shall be in accordance with all appropriate standardization requirements as set out in Standardization Design Memoranda (N), (L) or (A) and in Standard Stores Memoranda (Land Service) as well as being in conformity with appropriate British Standards. Reference in the sheets to a British Standard (undated), Defence Specification or other specification or document means, in any tender or contract, the edition current at the date of such tender or contract.
The air output quoted is at approximately sea level in cubic feet of free air per minute at the stated delivery pressure.
Deviation. At the time of tendering the tenderer shall give full particulars of any proposed deviations from the requirements set out in the sheets.
